Paridel Rough Collies was established in 1985 by my parents, Ian and Elizabeth Purdie.
After a long absence from the show ring, I was bitten by the bug again after a visit to the Ayrshire Collie Club in 2001.
In 2007, my husband, Iain and I were granted the use of my parents' kennel name.
Rough collies were a large part of my family before I was even born.  My parents bought two collies, Tara and Penny, just after they married in 1968.  They were of Naragansette lines and were both much loved family pets.

STARLENGA BARBARA ANNE

Our first venture into the show ring was with Katie, Starlenga Barbara Anne, who was bred by Gary and Margo Walker.  She won our first ever Best of Breed and then went on to win many more before she retired.

 STARLENGA EBONY EYES

Starlenga Ebony Eyes, Kelly, joined us a year later.  She had an extremely successful show career winning at championship and open shows.  Kelly gained her stud book number by winning 3rd in limit bitch at the Scottish Kennel Club in May 1985.  Kelly was a beautiful bitch who really came into her own after producing her only litter, often competing with Tess, her daughter, for Best of Breed at Open Shows.

 PARIDEL PUNCHINELLO

In December 1985, Kelly produced our first litter. She was mated to CH. Jasand Master Ziggy from which we kept Tess, Paridel Rare Moments and Toby, Paridel Punchinello.
Toby qualified for Crufts by winning puppy and novice dog at the Working Breeds of Scotland in 1986 before his untimely death aged just 16 months.

PARIDEL RARE MOMENTS

Tess missed her Junior Warrant by one point but went on to have an outstanding show career which included gaining her Stud Book number by winning a very large limit class at the Border Union in 1988.  She was placed many times at championship shows and won numerous Best of Breeds at open shows.  Tess was awarded Best in Show at the Ayrshire Collie Club from Mr. Vic Richardson (Jovic) and Reserve Best in Show at the Scottish Collie Club from Mr. Crawford Taylor (Bryany).

In 1993 Tess was awarded VHC in an exceptionally large Open Bitch class at Crufts from Mrs. M. McAdam (Helengowan )

Tess will always be remembered as the one who stepped away from my mum in the ring and barking to let her know she was ready for her next tit-bit!  She even did it in the ring at Crufts.

Our plans for the future are to continue enjoying our collies, who are first and foremost pets.  They are a huge part of our family and are completely spoiled.

We are most thankful to Bob and Naomi McDowall for entrusting us with our beautiful girls, their friendship, patience and their invaluable advice over the years.

We wish all our friends continued success in the ring.
